The Solar Empire spans more than fifty galaxies and a hundred thousand years of history. Its military, economic, and industrial power can shape or destroy entire civilizations even beyond its own borders. Those who have seen its influence firsthand call these political tides the Solar Winds. But in the Hourglass Galaxy resides a nation that stands against the wind, the Interstellar Combine. Now these two intergalactic superpowers are embroiled in a cold war for dominance of the region. Simmonne, the carefree daughter of the Solar Emperor, is tasked with a public relations mission to welcome refugees fleeing Combine occupation. The enigmatic Robert Panzer, a metapsion of enormous telepathic and telekinetic abilities, is assigned as her protector. Frustrated by her inability to perceive his emotions, Simmonne is unaware that she might require protection from him most of all. Within the Hourglass, newly minted Lieutenant Jonathan Clearwater balances his role as an officer of the Solar Legionnaires and his fraying family life. Meanwhile Oul'sor, a Warlord of the Combine, is resurrected to seek vengeance for the death of his son at Panzer’s hands. And near the center of power, Simmonne’s weak-willed and jaded brother Steven is tempted to corruption by the power of the Encephalon. The characters must work together – or against one another – as the cold war between intergalactic superpowers threatens to turn hot, all under the eye of an entity older than the universe itself. If they fail, the Encephalon's power will consume far more than the trillions of lives in the Hourglass Galaxy.

I was initially hesitant about the way the chapters were written based on a longer-than-average prologue. Glad I did not put this book down though! Like any other well-written novel, it takes a bit to draw you in and then once you are, you find yourself not being able to put it down. This is not typical sci-fi fantasy "fluff" like I have seen elsewhere. At least not in my personal opinion. It's a great quality read and I look forward to the next one in the series! I tend not to discuss plots or storylines in public reviews of a newer book, as to avoid spoilers that I personally hate, but I will advise to take your time reading it and experience full-on immersion. You won't regret it!

Additional note: I wanted to add that this novel is more "teen and up" friendly. Yes there are more adult themes, but it did not come across as raunchy or inappropriate in any way to me. However, if you have a much younger child, those few moments combined with the high level of sci-fi writing might just confuse them in the end. My own children are grown now but I have yet to come across anything written in this book that I wouldn't have wanted them to see or read in their early teen years and going forward. I just feel that at a younger age (around 12 and below for my own 2) they just would be want to ask questions that some parents are not comfortable answering. Keep in mind that I am a fairly more lenient mother but I did want to add that for parents who are not.

I can't even begin with this book, I was hesitant on the chapter break up, but after getting into the book it was easier for me to understand what was going on having it broke up into segments. I felt it gave it more organization and fluidity for me personally and it gave me the ability to see what each character was doing during each chapter.

Solar Winds Providence Ends is well written, and from the way it was written you can tell the Author not only put a lot of thought and effort into it, but passion as well. it leaves the book for myself personally one that is a page turner, and leaving myself at least wondering what happens next, making it a very easy to read. It is definitely one that I will read again, and am looking forward to more from the author in any form.

I recommend that anyone who is thinking of reading this book to do so, it will be worth the read. I also highly recommend anyone who likes to read, to pick this one up, it's definitely worth it.
I liked this novel more than some of the more recent best sellers I have seen, the subject matter sparked much discussion between my friends and I. I particularly liked the way he used the point of view characters to weave a rich tapestry of what could normally be considered tropes into a heck of a good story. This book has it all, Some violence, some romance, a couple of coming of age stories, a hero looking for a purpose, and my personal favorite a group of folks trying to shrug off their oppressors. (Depending on your point of view). All in all this was a good way to kill a few hours.
I read the book over two weeks. It is well written, but not a book for me. The setting is very far in the future and it's sense of scale and technology level dwarfs that of other sci-fi. The closest comparison I can find is the Warhammer 40k universe, but even that is a stretch.

All in all, its not a bad read. The author has obviously put alot of effort into this novel. The technology maintains its own internal sense of logic, however it's just not for me. It was however, well written and I do not regret the time spent on this novel.

I would recommend this novel to people who are looking for the action of a warhammer 40k novel or those who just finished watching starship troopers.
I wasn't all that sure about this book at first. The author's rotating-POV system is very different from pretty much everything else. At first I didn't really like it, but it really grew on me as I kept reading. It gives you a sense of who all the characters are, where they are, and why you should care. Some of the characters come across a bit 2-dimensional at first, but you definitely see them grow as the story goes on. On the upside they are all quite distinct from each other, which a lot of authors can't seem to pull off with a large cast. I think just about anybody will be able to find at least one they'll be rooting for.

The early part of the book is a bit slow, but it definitely makes up its action quota at the end. It kinda makes me think of movies like “Top Gun” where the early part is all about the people and their relationships, leading up to a big bang. I particularly enjoyed some of the large-scale combat, kind of science fiction meets “Saving Private Ryan”. Graphic, very intense, very brutal, maybe a bit over the top but it keeps the pages turning.

Don't expect to have all your questions answered in this one book, but it was entertaining enough that I plan to read the sequel.
This book was recommended to me from a friend, a great space fantasy story told in an interesting way, that just pulls you in. The characters well hatched out and a good story. Will be looking forward to the next book.
Great read, if you like Fantasy, Sci-fi, or Space themed book, this one is for you, the author goes into great depth and detail in this book and the character development is amazing. The story line kept me hooked through out the entire book, every thing just felt so real like you were there, and honestly cant wait for the next one to be released.
